Be The Church Sunday began with a bold, God-led conviction at Greater Saint John Cathedral, a decision to step outside the walls of the church and worship through service. Anchored in the truth found in scripture that Jesus was often found outside the temple more than inside, this movement is built on a simple but powerful idea: if we truly follow Jesus, we must become His hands and feet and go where people are.
In 2024, one church chose to forgo a traditional Sunday service to serve the community, and over 13,000 lives were impacted. In 2025, that impact more than doubled, reaching over 28,000 people locally and globally.
What we discovered was undeniable. Whenever Jesus performed miracles, He often did what people did not expect, and in the same way, this decision surprised many. But it became one of the most impactful days in our church’s history. Instead of gathering to hear one sermon, hundreds of sermons were lived out. Our disciples did not just come to church; they became the Church.
What began as one church’s step of faith has grown into a powerful movement. Today, through Greater Samaritan Ventures, a 501(c)(3) established to expand this vision through strategic partnerships, churches, local leaders, and community organizations are coming together as one.
United in purpose, we are serving, loving, and making a tangible difference not just in one place, but in communities near and far, multiplying impact and transforming lives along the way.
